Participating in the Ubicomp Summer School was great fun and learning. Engaging with the task of creating “wearables that matter” together with Patrycja Zdziarska and Walther Jensen, we created a fashionable wearable for touch and play. The simple question: “Why don’t we touch each other more” drove us to design a wearable, that is also a living creature. As design group we experienced the influence of “Hooze” on ourselves. We also wore Hooze in public and studied people’s reactions. Although not enticing enough to spark spontaneous reactions, Hooze made people interested in touching the wearer in a face-to-face scenario. We presented our work at the Thirteenth International Conference on Tangible, Embedded, and Embodied Interaction in March 2019.
